Description:
A beautiful very fine or better banknote from Belgium. This is the 1.10.41 or October 1, 1941 twenty Francs or Vingt Francs. This is a 1940 issue of the note. The banknote is brown on light blue and brown underprint and having the portrait of King Albert and Queen Elisabeth at left of the front. The front also has a white circle to the right with the word Tresoreie, and having the water mark. The front also has two signatures. The back shows a Bruxelles square at center right. The front is written in French while the back is written in Flemish. The back also has two signatures and the reverse of the white circle that is on the front. This particular note has the serial number 9191J0082. It also has the number 229758082 in the center, which we are uncertain what it represents. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a man in profile facing left in the white circle on the front. Please view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date:
01-10-41 which is October 1, 1941.
Printer:
National Bank of Belgium.
Size:
The banknote measures ~5 3/8" by ~3 1/4".
Pick Number:
P 111
Condition:
I would grade this banknote as very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has many creases throughout, is soiled and has some foxing and stains, but has no pinholes or splits. It does have some minor losses along the edges where the creases end. The corners are mostly intact with minimal rounding, but are creased. The piece still has some of its original crispiness. Please see photo for additional condition information.
