    Description

1937 Spanish Civil War Pesetas- Attack Republic Soldiers! Front depicts I think the CNT Soldiers stating the "Attack Soldiers of the Republic" quote. Note the Hammer & Sickle which depicts they are on the Communist Side fighting against Franco. The CNT is The Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (English: National Confederation of Labor; CNT) is a Spanish confederation of anarcho-syndicalist labor unions, which was long affiliated with the International Workers' Association (AIT). When working with the latter group it was also known as CNT-AIT. They joined together and formed their own militia or army of fighters. Franco was with the axis powers in ww2 but never sent troops so he was excused. The Spanish Civil war lasted from 1936 to 1939. Franco and the Nationalist won and Franco was in power as a Fascist dictator until 1975. He made a deal with the U.S. in 1953 during the Cold War to avoid bad relations. This is a ration sheet for Pesetas. the basic monetary unit of Spain (until replaced by the euro), equal to 100 centimos. Pesetas were used in Spain until 2002 when the euro came in. Measures about 9 x 12 inches. Comes in a protector sleeve and backing.
